Everything below is live on our servers right now and was tested from a page on a different domain before this was written. We host it, we keep it running, and there is nothing for you to install or update.
Every preview carries a watermark and the words “simulation, not a clinical prediction” alongside it. That wording is not optional, and it is there to protect you as much as the patient.
✕WHAT IS NOT BUILT YET
The parts we would rather you hear from us.
None of this stops the tool working. All of it would be a nasty surprise a week after launch, so it is on the page instead.
- Your logo and your brand colours are not on the page. It carries your practice name, your number and your booking button on our layout. Rebuilding it in your identity is work we quote, not a switch we flip.
- The bare link still wears our navigation. Opened on its own, /s/your-practice/ shows the Virtualix header. Link to the embedded address instead — that is the clean surface, and it works as a standalone page too.
- The email comes from us. The preview we send your patient names your practice in the first line, but it is sent by Virtualix Dental and the copy we host carries the Smilix mark rather than yours.
- There is no dashboard for you. No login, no self-serve editor. Your details, your booking link and your notification address are changed by us, usually the same day you ask.
- The frame does not resize itself. It cannot tell your page how tall to be, so you set a height once. 900px fitted every step at every width we measured, down to a 360px phone column.
- Nothing writes into your practice software. Enquiries arrive as email. Delivery into a system you already run is possible only where that system exposes an API, and only after we have both looked at it — never assumed on a sales call.
- The tablet clears itself after a result, not after a walk-away. Two minutes after a preview appears, or the moment the screen sleeps, everything the last patient typed is gone. A patient who abandons the form mid-way with the screen still awake leaves it on the glass until someone taps back.

One thing to watch: if your page builder wraps embeds in a sandbox attribute of its own, that sandbox has to include allow-same-origin. Without it the browser gives the frame no identity, and the camera and the engine both go silent while the page still looks perfectly alive. Send us the page and we will check it before you launch.

Does this diagnose anything?+
No, and it never claims to. It renders a simulated preview of a brighter, more even smile from a photograph. What is actually achievable for that patient is a clinical judgement only you can make in the chair, and the disclaimer on every image says exactly that.
Does the camera really work inside a frame on my site?+
Yes. We tested it from a page served on a different domain, in a frame carrying allow="camera", and the browser handed the camera through and the console took a photo. The patient is asked for permission by your domain, not ours, which is the right way round. Remove that attribute and the browser refuses — the console then shows “use a photo you already have” instead of failing. The one setup that breaks it outright is a page builder that wraps the frame in its own sandbox attribute without allow-same-origin; send us the page before launch and we will tell you in a minute whether yours does that.
Will patients see Virtualix branding?+
Inside the frame and on the tablet, no — our header, footer and chat bubble are all hidden, and the result carries your practice name. Two places we are still visible: the bare /s/your-practice/ address opened on its own still shows our navigation, which is why we tell you to link to the embedded one, and the preview we email the patient is sent by Virtualix Dental. Your practice is named in the first line of that email. A fully white-labelled email is not built yet.
What happens to the patient's photo?+
The photo is sent to the image provider to produce the preview and is not published anywhere by us. We will walk through the retention and consent wording with you before launch so it matches how you already handle patient images. Before a preview is shown we compare it automatically with the photograph, and we keep a short record of that check — measurements and the outcome, not the photo. The finished preview itself is kept, so the link we email still works later.
Will it slow my website down?+
The line we give you carries loading="lazy", so a visitor who never scrolls down to it downloads nothing at all. We check your page speed before and after and show you both.
How long does a preview take?+
Usually a minute or two. Each result is checked against the photo first and run again if it does not match, so a retry can add a minute. When the provider queue is busy the patient can leave an email and close the tab.
What does it cost, and am I tied in?+
Smilix starts at $149 a month. The exact number depends on the shape of your build and is quoted flat and in writing before anything is committed — you see it before you decide. There is nothing to un-wire if you ever leave: everything we build is yours.
Can I change my phone number or booking link later?+
Yes — email or call and we change it, usually the same day. There is no login or dashboard for you to manage; your details live in one entry on our side and we edit it for you.
